Model Lizzie Miller – A size 12-14 model who is a model for today’s women
Hi,
The first time I tried to find a video on Lizzie Miller, a plus-sized model on the Today Show, utube was listing them all as adult themed and one site said to go to a porn site to see it. My jaw dropped to the floor. A woman’s body is considered to be pornographic?
So I can’t show you the video from utube (because I won’t cross the line and go along with some fool’s perception about a woman’s body) but I got the video from the Today Show’s episode with Lizzie, so here is a link that will bring you to it. Watch a short commercial (got to be selling while we sleep) and see what you think.
I think it’s about time, but I know we will go go back to hating our bodies, sucking in our stomachs, and feeling as sexy as road kill.
But for a brief time, Glamour Magazine showed Lizzie in her beautiful naked self.

Dear Elizabeth, I am jumping up and down right now. I am screaming “Hip Hip Hooray!”
FINALLY somebody who is like me, somebody who represents REAL women, somebody who isn’t afraid to let is all hang out! I looooooove the photos of Lizzy Miller. She is ALL OF US!
Great blog! xxx
I think it is great that Glamour showed that photo..I think it will help many women with their self image.
Elizabeth, thanks for posting this! I’m glad at least one magazine has seen the light. There are a few catalog companies that have recently started using “normal” (not “plus-size”) models in their mailings–Chico’s is one–and they are to be applauded as well. Maybe some reality is s-l-o-o-o-w-l-y finding its way into the world of fashion/beauty advertising–how nice!
I think if we keep telling the advertisers that we count and so does our money then maybe we can make a change.
Over 25 years over there was a survey done about people buying what they see themselves wearing. It found out that African Americans wanted to see themselves in the catalogs that were predominately white. It was slow and the pages started to show all of us in catalogs. I was very happy to be in the advertising dept. of Bloomingdale’s back then and I was able to help pick models for some of our photo shoots. We didn’t need a survey (although some did) to know that it was only right to include everyone so maybe now it is time to include all sizes.
